What is Signal App?
The signal app Is a private messenger. you could use your iPhone on your android devices on your iPad and it even has applications for mac pc and Linux it is not yet supported on Chromebooks though. Signal App is a messenger service with a focus on privacy there are lots of unique and really great privacy features in the Signal app. it's also completely open-source which means anyone can have a look at the code and really see. if the signal is as secure as they say it is signal is available across platforms. so if you have an iPhone or an Android device even a windows pc or a mac computer iPad as well it's pretty much available on everything. you can use it on your phone and send messages pretty much anywhere.
How to Sign Up for Signal?
- You can easily download the Signal app from the CSMA1 website. you can also download the signal app for free from the app store on ios or google play store on android devices.
- When you open the app for the first time tap continue at the bottom then tap enable permissions if prompted tap allows to let signal access your device's camera microphone and contact list.
- then enter your phone number tap next you'll be sent a text message containing a six-digit code enter the code you received. after that enter your first and last name.
- if you like you can also add a profile photo at this stage when you're done tap save now you'll be asked to create a four-digit pin to secure your account this pin will be used to encrypt your personal information and settings and allow you to restore your account.
- if you ever need to reinstall the app or switch to a new device enter the pin you'd like to use then tap next type in your pin again to confirm after that you're ready to start using signal App.
- if any of your contacts saved to your device have already signed up for signal you'll see their names listed when you tap the pencil icon in the top right corner to start a new chat. you can easily invite your friends to join the signal by tapping invite friends at the bottom invites can be sent through text message or email.
Features of Signal App
Disable Contact joined Notification
Signal App allows you to disable contact joined notification. In signal App tap on your profile icon select notifications and toggle off contact join signal.
Custom Notifications
By default whenever you receive a signal notification the name and the message appear. if you want to be extra secure you can customize that go to signal to click on your profile icon select notifications and under show change it to name only.
Face Blurring and image editing
This feature is pretty cool and you haven't seen it in any other platform. you can basically with a single tab automatically blur faces on the images you can also apply the manual blur. you can draw lines you can place stickers on the picture you can also set for recipients to only be able to see it once.
Changing Font Size
you can very easily change the font size in the signal App. Click on your profile icon then chats and then select the message font size.
Delete For Everyone
In case you send a message by mistake signal allows you to easily remove it within three hours using the delete for everyone feature. simply go to signal App to go to the recipient you want to select your message and hit the pin icon choose to delete for everyone.
Placing Notes to Self
you can easily store notes images and messages to yourself. if you have multiple devices linked all of them will sync those messages. in signal App simply click on the pencil icon search for notes to self-click on the option and start leaving messages images.
Dark Mode
In signal App tap on the three dots at the top right go to settings appearances and then change the theme to dark.
Sticker Support
Signal supports receiving and sending stickers. simply go to signal App and one of the recipients chooses the stickers icon you can choose either simple emojis or stickers.
Download New Stickers
If you are not very satisfied with the amount of sticker signal provides. there's a very cool way to download new stickers from an unofficial website. simply open your browser and go to signalstickers.com once there look for a sticker that interests you. Search a sticker with name one stay click on add to signal and choose signal to open the stickers. now your newly installed stickers will be available in the sticker section.
Screen Lock
If you're not into locking your phone you can easily use signal's App screen lock. this way you will secure the app and avoid others from accessing it without your permission. if you want to enable it simply click on your profile icon select privacy and enable screen lock. you can also choose the timeout for the screen locking activity.
Pin Important Chats
You can pin important chats and groups to the top of the screen on the signal App. signal App supports up to four chats and this is a very convenient feature when you quickly want to access the chat. how do you use this feature? to simply hold one of the recipients for a couple of seconds once highlighted just select the pin icon.
Pin Chats to Home Screen
Signal also allows you to pin chats to the home screen. simply go to signal select one of the users click on the three dots at the top right and choose to add to the home screen.
Archiving Chats
You can easily archive chats on signal and access them from the bottom of the app screen. the archive chat will come out of the archive. if you get a new message once in signal select and hold one of the recipients for a couple of seconds and choose the archived icon. if you want to bring them back from the archive conversations you have to send them a message or they have to send you a message.
