The first things you should know about VLC media player and any media player you see right out here to the side. Recording your webcam some of the steps are similar to those for capturing your screen. You need to move through this one quickly go-to media and select open capture device in capture mode pick DirectShow for a video. device name selects your camera and for the audio device, name selects your microphone. same as before go down to play click the drop-down arrow and choose convert select your video. codec click browses to choose the file path and name your file hit save just like before start begins the recording and stop ends it.

VLC Media Player makes that process simple. just right-click inside the video hover your mouse cursor over the video and select take snapshot. the keyboard shortcut to do this on Windows and Linux is the shift key plus the letter S on Mac. it's the command key + Alt + S all screenshots are automatically saved to your pictures folder.

Record Audio/Video

If you want to record a video or audio playing in VLC Media Player. here are the steps go to the menu bar and click on View. select advanced controls in the lower-left a new layer will appear with more controls to begin recording. Click the record button to finish recording click the record button again your video recordings are saved to your videos folder and audio recordings are saved to your music folder. 

Create Bookmarks

You can bookmark parts of a video with VLC making it easier to come back to those points later on to use the bookmark feature. Go to the menu bar and click on playback go down to custom bookmarks and select manage in the new window. click on create at the section of the video you'd like to bookmark you can create as many bookmarks for a video that you need.
